GOALKEEPERS


Ross McDonald-
In his final year for the academy and he has developed enormously since joining the club last season. Made his 1st team debut at the beginning of the season, keeping a clean sheet against Thackley. Ross also plays for the successful open age side Heckmondwike Old Boys.




Simon Holbert-
Young Goalkeeper who last season won the Academy young player of the season. Has great handling skills and is capable of pulling off match saving saves. Simon also plays for the club’s Gomersal and Cleckheaton U18s side and has represented Spen Valley district and West Yorkshire Schools.

DEFENDERS

Ash Burton-
Centre half or right back came to the club at the beginning of last season, comfortable on the ball and a good communicator. Ash as also played for Spen Valley District and has recently left Halifax Town Academy to develop his football at Liversedge.  Ash is another player who has risen from Gomersal and Cleckheaton FC and is a key player for the Under 18s.



Jason Collinson-
Young former Norristhorpe defender who is comfortable anywhere across the backline.  He joined the club as a 15 year old, developed well and established himself.  Always giving 100%. Jason has also represented the Spen Valley District side and is another player who is playing for Gomersal and Cleckheaton



Liam Barrett-
A massive character in the academy changing room, he was last year's academy captain.  A good leader with a great left foot. Joined Sedge, after impressing towards the end of the 05/06 season. Liam has represented the County and the Halifax District side, who he captained to the semi finals of the county cup.



Adam Griffin-
Another new signing who joined the club in pre-season from our junior side Gomersal and Cleckheaton. A young player with a great attitude who is willing to listen and learn and always gives 100%. Adam also plays for Crag Road United in the West Riding League.



Dale Wright-
Brought to the club by 1st team assistant Spud and impressed greatly with his attitude, broke into the 1st team squad straightaway and should be a key part of both squads this season. Dale can also play up front where his pace and strength are used to great effect.



Josh Cook-
Joined the club in pre-season, has previously played for Ossett Town Juniors.  Josh can play at either centre back or is comfortable on either flank. Very comfortable on the ball with two great feet. Josh also plays for our Gomersal and Cleckheaton U18s.


Jamie Fradgley-
Joined the club 3 seasons ago as a 15 year old and impressed in the old reserve side with his great attitude and never say die heart. Jamie always gives 100% and is a great player to have in the squad.  He was last years joint player’s player of the season and will hopefully be pushing for a chance in the 1st team.  Also plays for the very successful Brighouse Town side in the West Riding County Amateur League.


Craig Batty-
A whole hearted defender, who joined the club at the beginning of last season and immediately impressed, with his leadership skills.  A commanding presence in the centre of defence, Craig as also made a handful of 1st team appearances. Craig is another who has represented Spen Valley District.



Liam Roche-
New Signing this summer joins the club from Farsley Celtic, Liam has already made is 1st team debut, after impressing in the academy’s pre-season games. A great reader of the game and very comfortable on the ball. Liam has also represented the County Side.

MIDFIELDERS

Danny Bentley-
Danny was appointed academy captain for the forthcoming season, a big player for the academy who can play anywhere across the midfield.  He has great vision and likes a strike on goal. Danny featured for the 1st team for most of last season and will be hoping to play an active part this season. Danny has also represented the Spen Valley District.


Jordan Maltas-
Jordan is a key squad member and now also fully established in the 1st team squad.  He can play anywhere across the midfield or at left back. Finished off last season by winning “Young Player of the Year” for the 1st team, which was a great achievement in only his 1st season at the club. Jordan also plays for Gomersal and Cleckheaton U18s and has represented the County as well as Spen Valley District.



Edward Walmsley-
Twin brother of Marcus joined us at the beginning of the season after his release from Leeds United where he had being since the age of 6. Very comfortable on the ball with great vision and an eye for goal. Previous clubs include Leeds United and he is now playing for Gomersal and Cleckheaton. Also a very good cricketer and has played for Yorkshire.



Steven Smith-
A big hearted midfielder who always gives his all and likes a tackle. Has a great engine, one of the fittest in the squad.  Made his debut last season in the 6-1 win over Bradford Park Avenue. Also plays for Gomersal and CleckheatonU18s, as well as Hunsworth in the West Riding County Amateur League.


Adam Womersley-
Joined the club at the beginning of the season after impressing in pre-season with is commitment and attitude. Loves a tackle and very comfortable on the ball. Adam has also represented Spen Valley District and is currently playing for Gomersal and Cleckheaton U18s.



Kieran Bonner-
Kieran is the oldest player in the academy squad, a very skilful winger or forward who comes to the club with a great goal scoring record from local football. Another who has represented Spen Valley District.




Danny Waldron-
Winger with lighting pace, who loves to run at defenders, joins the club from Gomersal and Cleckheaton.  Has a great attitude, good vision and on his day can be a match winner with his contributions both on and off the ball.

FORWARDS

Marcus Walmsley-
Identical Twin of Edward. Like his brother, Marcus joins the club from Leeds United and made his debut last season, scoring his 1st goal against Bradford Park Avenue. Capable of scoring great goals also has great movement off the ball which makes him a handful for defenders. Also a very good Cricketer who has represented district sides and Yorkshire..



Sam Sweeney-
Brought to the Club by Assistant Manager Joe, after impressing for Battyeford Juniors where he scored a hatful of goals. Very strong, quick and capable of scoring brilliant goals. A defenders nightmare as he never stops hassling them.



Marc Trapps-
joined the club last season and immediately impressed with his pace and power when attacking. Trappo has scored some memorable goals since joining the club and hopefully more will follow this season. Another player who is also playing for Gomersal and Cleckheaton U18s.



Tom Doran-
Joins the club after impressing in a final up at Liversedge last season. The youngest player in the squad and has the ability to do well at the club.  Tom is really quick and a good finisher. Scored his 1st goal for the club against Halifax Irish in the pre-season.


Kieran Corley-
Only 16, a player with a lot of potential, big, strong and holds the ball up brilliantly, “Kes” has great feet and is known to score spectacular goals. Kieran has represented Spen Valley District and is currently playing for Gomersal and Cleckheaton under 18s.


Scott Swann-
Joins the club from Thackley FC, where against us last season he scored a hat trick. Very skilful and strong with a great eye for goal. Will be looking to break into the 1st team this season. Also played under Simon at Halifax Town and has played for Bradford City.  Versatile, Swanny can play at centre back if needed too.
